First, you should focus and very familiar on your moves. One key move by a Death Knight is its spell interrupts, the basic of which is Mind Freeze. When using this power, make sure that you lockout the spell school you intend to. Another is Strangulate, which is the very first ability you will gain as a Death Knight and a good aid when you act as a tank. It reduces 175 points from the enemy. It has a great range and a great move for a coordinated healer lockout in group PvP.
Another prudent Death Knight strategy is to master the spells which will control your enemy’s movement. One particularly that has a slowing effect is Chains of Ice. This spell is primarily being employed to effectively stop the progress of your enemies on their tracks or keep hard line players away from your healers. Using this spell sets back the enemies and makes it easy for the player to wipe them out. One of the well-known spells which is also useful for Death Knight strategy is DeathGrip. It gives the player the ability to pull an enemy right up to him and destroy that opponent. Use this to defend your healers and for strong combination attacks with your allies.
Giving priority importance to your baseline defensive spell is another good Death Knight strategy. Icebound Fortitude is a powerful skill that gives you 40% damage protection shield but it must be supported by a glyph. Without glyph support, use the defensive spell Death Pact, which allows the Death Knight to consume one of its undead minions to restore 40% of your health. Talent defensive spells such as Rune Tap from the Bloodline, Unbreakable Armor from Frost Tree, and Unholy which improves Anti Magic Shell and adds Anti-Magic Zone are also excellent options to improve the helpfulness of your Death Knight strategy. Unholy is very popular talent spec because of its superior summoning abilities and strong defensive options. A player should be very familiar with runes because the abilities and powers of a Death Knight depends on them.
